After training of the neural net, ANCS was adjusted with the automatic functions and was used to control the pilot plant automatically. The results in terms of flux rate, recovery, chemical and energy demand will be compared to the respective results of the large technical scale backwash-water treatment plant operated without ANCS. This task showed successful modelling of start- and end permeabibity after/before backwashing and resulted in a cost reduction of 4 - 25 %
DEMEAU will be presented by Theo van den Hoven at this year's WssTP Water Innovation Europe conference. On June 24, he will give a brief overview of the project, the technologies and the Unique Selling Propositions of the technologies, a result of the LCC and LCA analyses. In June, the DEMEAU project will hold its series of final dissemination events. To tailor the final events to the diverse stakeholders and interest groups of the project, the events will be held in a two part series. The first part, held in Zurich, Switzerland on June 17th and 18th, will be a Final Consortium Meeting and Utility Event. The second part, held at the annual WSsTP Conference in Brussels, Belgium, on June 24-26th will serve as a Final Policy Event. Agendas are forthcoming.

The EU funded project DEMEAU demonstrates innovative technologies that address emerging pollutants.
The second annual Project Steering Board meeting of the FP7 project DEMEAU took place on May 19th and 20th at the premises of KWR Watercycle Research Institute in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Project coordinator Theo van den Hoven welcomed the DEMEAU project members with a brief introduction of KWR, its services and activities and the scope and objectives of DEMEAU. Subsequently, the Work Area (WA) leaders had the opportunity to give a summarising overview of their work progress.
Recently the partners of Work Area (WA) 5 have published a report on perceived drivers and barriers for successful implementation of the four groups of technologies investigated in DEMEAU: Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR), Hybrid Ceramic Membrane Filtration (HCMF), Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) and Bioassays. Stakeholders in six case studies were questioned about their view in order to highlight which aspects have enabled or constrained market uptake of the innovative technologies.
The Catalan Water Partnership aims to enhance the strategical reflexion with all stakeholders in the water sector in Catalunya and wants to foster the further internationalisation and innovation of the sector. DEMEAU will be presented by Ester Vilanova who will talk about the results that have been achieved and that are yet to come.
DEMEAU held the first in its three part series of final events in Zurich, Switzerland on June 17-18, 2015. Hosted on the premises of Eawag just outside of Zurich in Dübendorf, attendees engaged in collaborative knowledge exchange and discussions on the final research results, conclusions and contributions of the project. The two day event brought together the expertise of the whole project consortium, where the work areas presented the final results of their work within the project.
