aquatune is a Germany-based engineering company. The objective of aquatune is to supply customers in the water sector (drinking water and wastewater) with support systems based on the technologies of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Genetic Algorithms (GA). The ANN’s are used to build models of complex processes, such as activated sludge processes in wastewater treatment plants. Based on the predictions from those models, an optimizer will calculate online a set of optimal values for the operation of the plant. The proposed values are well suited to minimize consumption of energy and operating resources while safely complying with legal limiting values of pollutants in the effluent. Thus, aquatune supports all customers in solving the complex tasks of operating their plants. aquatune was founded in 2005 and has since then collected a lot of knowledge about all kinds of processes in the water sector. aquatune often works together with partners from universities, institutes (like KWR or IWW) and other companies and has worked successfully in several (funded) research projects.
