Excess irrigation, ditches, trenches

Excess irrigation can be applied in irrigated land where water is deliberately spread by e.g. sprinkler or drop irrigation during dormant or non-irrigated seasons in order to increase water availability during dry seasons. Ditches and trenches are shallow, flat bottomed and closely spaced ditches and furrows through which water is introduced and allowed to infiltrate. This technique is suitable for both flat and irregular topography.
