Demonstration of MAR benefits and environmental impacts related to emerging pollutants in Europe

MS11 Characterization of European managed aquifer recharge (MAR) sites - Analysis

Different types of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) schemes are widely distributed and applied on various scales in the European countries, but no systematic categorization and compilation existed up to now. The European MAR catalogue presented herein includes a wide range of parameters, e.g. operational information, hydrogeological properties and water quality monitoring for different types of MAR. The database includes currently 270 MAR sites, but is neither a representative nor an exhaustive data compilation.

D11.1 Contributing to the MAR catalogue

If you want to contribute to the further development of information on MAR especially throughout Europe, you are invited to download this empty version of the DEMEAU MAR catalogue. Please send the completed file to Stephan Hannappel hannappel@hydor.de

For more information, please read the deliverable on the catalogue here or read the news story about the deliverable (find the link below).

D11.1 Development of a Catalogue on European MAR Sites: Documentation

In order to demonstrate the effects of typical existing European MAR systems onto groundwater availability and groundwater quality with specific focus on trace organics, a comprehensive relational database (catalogue) on European MAR systems was created to ensure efficient management of available data. By means of the built-in user forms, queries, and reports, database users are enabled to not only view and enter records but also to quickly process the data to extract needed information.

WP1.1 Demonstration of MAR benefits and environmental impacts related to emerging pollutants in Europe

The objectives of this work package are:

  • To demonstrate the effects of typical existing European MAR systems onto groundwater availability and groundwater quality with specific focus on trace organics
  • To showcase different approaches to optimizing the design and operation of MAR sites

The following tasks (with deliverables and milestones) are planned:
